The Medfusion 4000 Syringe Pump from Smiths Medical is a next-generation infusion device designed for precise delivery of medications in critical care, neonatal, and pediatric environments. It operates on either AC power or an internal rechargeable battery, with on-screen indicators for battery status and charging. The pump supports a wide variety of syringe brands and sizes, and features automatic recognition of syringe type to streamline setup.
Unlike its predecessors, the Medfusion 4000 offers advanced capabilities, including bolus delivery, programmable continuous, intermittent, and volume-over-time infusion modes, making it highly adaptable for various clinical needs. It’s ideal for delivering blood products, lipids, fluids, antibiotics, pain management therapies (including epidurals), and any drug requiring tightly controlled infusion rates.
This model includes five programmable pressure/occlusion settings for flexibility and patient safety, and a customizable drug library to enhance dosing accuracy and reduce human error. Clinicians can lock specific parameters and infusion profiles to ensure consistency and compliance with protocols.
The pump is compatible with syringes from BD, Monoject, Terumo, and Abbott (50cc only), and it supports BD glass syringes in 1, 3, 5, and 10cc sizes. Additional compatibility includes Braun syringes, 10 and 50cc Fresenius, and 50cc Perfusor syringes, depending on software version and configuration.
Featuring a bright, easy-to-read color display with intuitive touch navigation, the Medfusion 4000 also integrates seamlessly with electronic medical records and barcoding systems for improved documentation and medication traceability. The unit comes with a pole clamp for easy mounting and offers an accuracy of ±2%, not including syringe variation.
